51 widows allotted safe haven to live by Yogi government

Lucknow: This year, houses have been allotted to 51 thousand destitute women (aged 18 to 40 years) in the state after the death of their husbands. On the initiative of the Deputy Chief Minister, such destitute women have been included in the priority category of eligibility of Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that destitute women (aged 18 to 40 years) after the death of their husbands are a very sensitive category, which requires extreme security at the social and government level. Widowed women of this age are often such, most of whom have very small children, which further increases their need for protection and support.

In view of the problems of the beneficiaries of this age group, the state government has taken a revolutionary step by including them in the eligibility / priority list of Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana Gramin, which shows the intention of the state government to stand with every needy person of the society.

The Deputy Chief Minister has said that this is a revolutionary step of the Rural Development Department in the direction of Mission Shakti. This has given a great support to the women power by the Rural Development Department. The government is moving forward with full commitment for women’s safety, respect and self-reliance.

Under the successful guidance of the Prime Minister, the Central and State Governments are working with full honesty and commitment for women’s safety, respect and self-reliance. Our mothers, sisters and daughters have ensured their contribution in building a new India by walking step by step in every field. We salute the strength, courage, and perseverance of our Nari Shakti and appreciate their achievements in various fields. Our government is committed to empowering women through initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology and other fields.

It is known that Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana Gramin is a rural housing scheme run by the state government, which was started from the year 2018. In this scheme, families affected by natural disaster, leprosy and diseases like Kala-azar, economically backward tribal families, Divyangjan and homeless families of many classes like Musahar, Vantangiya, Banjara etc. are being added to the priority category of Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana Gramin and a large number of people are being benefited from this scheme. So far, 3.51 lakh families have been allotted houses under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana Gramin.

In this scheme, by including destitute women (age 18 to 40 years) after the death of the husband in the priority category of eligibility in the year 2024-25, the state government conducted a survey of homeless eligible families of this category at the district level. About 51 thousand houses were demanded in this category from the districts of the state. All 51 thousand destitute women (aged 18 to 40 years) have been allotted houses this year after the death of their husbands. The process of approval of these houses and issuance of the first installment is in progress.

Deputy Chief Minister  Keshav Prasad Maurya has directed the departmental officers to approve the houses of these families and complete them as soon as possible. It has been said that providing housing facilities to such a large number of destitute women of young age after the death of their husbands is an important step towards the sensitivity of the government and Mission Shakti.

Commissioner Rural Development  GS Priyadarshi said that so far 3.51 lakh families have been allotted houses under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme – Rural.
